My poem, “When the Dazzle Isn’t Gradual” won the 2010 Bellingham Review 49th Parallel Poetry Award.
In June, I was the poet-in-residence at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts.

In January, I spent a week at the U.S. Poets in Mexico Festival as the Merída Fellowship Award recipient.
In October 2009, I was the poet-in-residence at the Midwest Writing Center’s Great River Writer’s Retreat.

My first collection of poems, The Body Is No Machine, was published by New Issues in 2007 and won the 2008 Devil’s Kitchen Reading Award in Poetry. I work at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where I organize the Writers & Critics Series and teach courses in creative writing and gender studies.
