In June, I’ll be a poet-in-residence at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts.
In January, I spent a week at the U.S. Poets in Mexico Festival as the Merída Fellowship Award recipient.
In October 2009, I was the poet-in-residence at the Midwest Writing Center’s Great River Writer’s Retreat.
In May 2009, I participated in the Center for Book Arts Fine Press Publishing Seminar, led by Barbara Henry. Photos of the seminar—including my newfound letterpress printing skills in action—are on flickr.

My first collection of poems, The Body Is No Machine, was published by New Issues in 2007 and won the 2008 Devil’s Kitchen Reading Award in Poetry. I teach at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where I organize the Writers & Critics Series and teach a variety of courses in creative writing, queer literature and theories, and gender studies.
